Hangar “I” Groundbreaking Ceremony
A groundbreaking ceremony for the newest hangar at Chennault International Airport was held Friday, March 6, 2026. Chennault’s Board of Commissioners and Executive Director Kevin Melton joined state and local leaders—including Governor Jeff Landry and Lake Charles Mayor Marshal Simien—along with project partners James Palma, Alfred Palma Construction, General Contractor, Steven Shows, VSG Architects, Project Architect and Tyson Grenzebach, President of Landlocked Aviation to launch Hangar “I,” a dedicated aircraft painting and stripping facility for the airport and Landlocked Aviation. Construction is expected to take about 14 months, marking the first new aircraft painting hangar built at Chennault since the mid-1980s.
